MAC’s Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) team has successfully completed the refurbishment of Intu Lakeside Shopping Centre’s Primark store, which has enabled the popular home and fashion store to re-open in line with the latest Government advice.
The store commissioned the extensive refurbishment project late last year, to allow the space to better meet the needs of its customers and works commenced on the project in early 2020.
Following the initial coronavirus lockdown period, works recommenced on the project in line with all Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Government assuring operational safety standards were met.
Plans for the store’s fit out were constantly reviewed and revised to ensure social distancing measures could be facilitated for customers once it was announced that it was safe for stores to re-open to the public.
MAC Construction Consultants were appointed on the project to provide full SHE services, including the delivery of night shift safety audits, and ensuring all contractors were compliant with the guidelines for safe working during the pandemic.
To maintain activity and sustain customer services throughout the project, works were carried out by the main contractor and operatives across both day and night shifts.
MAC also provided Project and Cost Management services on the project.
Deb Kilvington, Associate Director at MAC Construction Consultants commented: “This year has been a tremendously difficult one for retailers who had to close their doors during the lockdown period.
“This is a great client who provides an innovative customer service experience and we are proud to have been able to work on this project and to ensure that all work was carried out in accordance with the most up to date guidance from the Government, meaning customers can now enjoy the store again.
“We are now looking forward to working with the company on its stores in Kent and London.”
