Badby Primary School

Brief:

MAC were appointed by Innovate Multi Academy Trust (iMAT) to help them understand and deliver solutions that would address the estates problems it was facing at Badby Primary School in Northamptonshire.

Key Challenges:

The planning approval conditions outlined for this project had particular and detailed design management requirements which MAC oversaw working in conjunction with the appointed architects.

The school site remained open to pupils and staff during the construction which required the team to effectively manage the activities to ensure minimal disruptions were made.

As part of this the team had to successfully manage a comprehensive multiple stakeholder engagement programme.

MAC also oversaw a second funded project to replace the heating systems to the main building delivered at the same time.

Results:

The team at MAC found that three temporary classrooms had stood on the site for over 25 years and had significant problems including failing floors, leaking roofs, areas of damp, structural issues, technical and electrical deficiencies all of which created an unsafe environment for pupils and staff at the school.

They worked with the Trust to run feasibility reports on potential options and successfully secured £900,000 of Condition Improvement Funding for a new permanent extension on the main school building.

The construction of the project was successfully completed in under four months.
