Brief:

MAC has been working closely with B&Q on several conversion projects to its existing stores across the country including general sales floor and back of house refurbishments, car park remedial works and façade replacements. These projects have ranged in value from £250,000 to over £1,000,000.

Key project:

MAC acted as Employer’s Agent from inception to completion on a £1m sales floor and back of house refurbishment and façade replacement project at B&Q’s store in Guildford.

This saw MAC manage the delivery of the project ensuring all appointment and contract documents were successfully administrated and completed.

Key challenges:

This project was undertaken as the store continued to trade which required MAC to undergo careful and detailed store engagement to ensure Safety, Health and Environment standards for customers and staff were upheld to the best standards.

As part of this MAC implemented a temporary entrance and exit for customers to use which enable the programme to be efficiently delivered.

Key results:

MAC successfully replaced both the store’s entrance and exit lobbies to the client’s latest specification requirements and applied new cladding to the customer facing facades, implemented new LED lighting throughout the property and fully refurbished the store’s sales floor and staff areas in a four month programme.

MAC effectively delivered the project to the original budget set out by the client and concluded several main contractor variations claims throughout the project.

Since the completion of this project, MAC has been appointed on several similar schemes across the country providing full Employer’s agent services.
