Stannington Primary School

In 2021 MAC Construction Consultants was appointed by Peak Edge Trust to secure Condition Improvement Funding for the replacement of the roof coverings of Stannington Primary School.

Our expert education team worked with the school’s leaders to help navigate every stage of the process, from an initial assessment of the works required, gathering the necessary evidence, and producing the bid.

The school was awarded CIF funding of £400k.

MAC allocated a dedicated project manager to oversee the works, working alongside local contractor Martin Brooks to act as Principal Designers, Contract Administrators and Quantity surveyors.

The team utilised traditional roofing techniques to replace roof coverings whilst also preserving the character of the lovely building.

Works also included the demolition of a redundant tank room on the roof and the replacement of an existing roof light with a Korniche Aluminium Lantern.

Health and safety was particularly important for this project, as the school remained open throughout the period while the repairs and building work was being carried out.

The project was delivered on time and within budget, and the building still retains its original impressive character.

Stannington Primary School aims to provide an inclusive, safe, secure, healthy and happy environment. The school was built in 1910 and benefits from a pleasant and rich environment, including a very large playing field and a wonderful school garden.

Peak Edge Academy Trust was established in 2019, they believe that every young person has the right to an excellent education, to feel safe and enjoy stimulating learning that inspires them.
