In September 2021 MAC Construction Consultants was appointed by charity Think Like a Pony to provide Cost Management and Contract Administration Services for the construction of a youth development centre, to include parking, indoor manège, outdoor manège and field shelter.
Think Like a Pony is a leading organisation in the fields of children's natural horsemanship, equine therapy and online horsemanship – the developments will improve current operations and allow the site to increase capacity.
Throughout the project, the centre was able to remain open – moving operations from one side of the valley to the other.
Ground conditions at the site were a challenge, with steep gradients requiring vast amounts of cut and fill and soil stabilisation. Additionally, water had to be delivered from 300m across the valley and over a stream.
Throughout the project, the team undertook several rounds of Value Engineering ensuring a systematic, organised approach to providing necessary functions and solutions at the lowest cost in order to ensure that maximise the end result with the client’s budget.
