Brief:
MAC has been appointed by High Street Residential to work on a highly anticipated 504 bed build to rent scheme in the heart of Birmingham city centre. This will deliver a range of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments across five principle buildings ranging from seven to 19 storeys.
The development will also bring forward an outdoor courtyard with a central three-storey community hub with 955 sq. metres of flexible commercial space.
Construction is set to complete on this development in 2023.
Key Challenges:
Due to the site orientation this project is being delivered in phases concurrently which has required the team to carefully plan operations around multiple programmes, including the co-ordination of new services and supplies to all blocks individually.
This has seen MAC manage numerous contracts across the blocks which all have different funding requirements and specifications. As part of this the team successfully completed a single stage negotiation with one contactor working on each plot, the project is split between Plot 1 and 2.
As this is in the city centre site there are tight site constraints which MAC must meticulously work around.
MAC are currently running a multiple stakeholder engagement programme to ensure all neighbouring sites are kept up to date on construction activities.
