Brief:
MAC Construction Consultants were appointed by Rudding Park and Enjoy Design to undertake the role of the Construction Design Management (CDM) Client Advisor and Principal Designer Advisor on its ambitious hotel extension project.
The project was delivered on a Traditional Contract extending the current hotel to include a spa facility with hydrotherapy pool, treatment suite, thermal rooms, guest swimming pool and an additional restaurant.
Key Challenges:
Throughout the construction of the project the prestigious hotel remained operational, so all construction activities had to be carefully planned around the guests and the hotel’s extensive events and wedding programme. This meant the team had to work around strict noise and aesthetical restrictions to ensure guests were not affected during their stay.
Not only this but this was a challenging design as the existing building was a Grade II listed building and the client required high quality design features such as roof terraces and high level walkways which MAC delivered to the highest Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards.
Results:
MAC successfully assisted with the co-ordination of onsite health and safety and design hazard identification to ensure that all Safety Health and Environment (SHE) legislation was adhered to.
The team professionally managed the cooperation and liaison between the contractors on site and the design team to ensure the clients brief was met and that works were carried out in response to the restrictions set out, guaranteeing that no disturbances were made to guests using the hotel or no accidents occurred.
Commencing in two phases the construction programme was carried out over two years and the scheme was delivered on time and in budget.
